Amit Kaushik

PhD Student, Integrative Conservation & Anthropology

Amit is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Integrative Conservation (ICON) and Anthropology, specializing in Ecological and Environmental Anthropology, at the University of Georgia. Simultaneously, he holds the position of an External PhD Scholar at the Wildlife Institute of India (WII), Dehradun, India. His doctoral research looks at the intersection of conservation science and social & environmental justice in Central India, with a particular focus on the complex interactions between humans and wildlife. 

Before joining UGA, Amit earned an MA degree in Environment and Development from the School of Human Ecology at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University Delhi (2016). Additionally, he holds a B.Com (Hons.) degree in Commerce from the University of Delhi (2012). Following his master's program, Amit worked with WII (2018-2021). During this period, he worked with a large team and contributed to the development of the Landscape Management Plan for the Greater Panna Landscape in Central India. This plan has been implemented by the Government of India.
