National Geographic Award supports wolf conservation research in Central India

Amit Kaushik

PhD Student Amik Kaushik received the National Geographic Award for his PhD research on community-based wolf conservation in Central India. This award will support his research, especially in enhancing ecological and community engagement. The project, Wolves, Drylands, and People: Identifying Potentials of Community-Based Wolf Conservation in India's Non-Protected Areas, investigates the spatial utilization of Indian wolves (Canis lupus pallipes) and their interactions with humans in and around a tiger reserve in Central India. It focuses on how non-protected areas and community-based conservation efforts can significantly contribute to the conservation of lesser-known species like the Indian wolf, both within the Indian context and beyond.
