3 people smiling at the camera

The Anthropology Writing Lab is now open and ready to support your writing needs! Our lab is staffed with Writing Intensive Program (WIP) coaches, who are trained to help guide students through the writing process—from brainstorming to final revisions. Meet the writing coaches and learn more about their expertise to help you prepare for your next appointment!

Evan DesRosiers

I'm a third-year PhD student in cultural anthropology working on biodiversity conservation issues with indigenous communities in Borneo. I'm particularly passionate about social theory and ethnographic writing, and really look forward to helping you with any difficulties you might be encountering in your writing process. Together we can structure your writing workflows, identify good strategies for organizing research and citations, better understand general academic and anthropology-specific conventions in writing, come up with great ideas for papers, and craft persuasive arguments.

Faith Macdonald

I am a third-year PhD student in archaeology, working to understand the development of seasonal sheep herding in Northeastern Spain in relation to social and ecological trends between Late Antiquity and the Medieval Period. One of the things I love about Anthropology is the diverse types of communication we get practice, ranging from formal academic writing to conversations with community stakeholders. While our products might be wide-ranging, we can all work together to practice the basic skills involved in the writing process. From brainstorming ideas, planning out a first draft, working on how to revise a piece, or incorporating feedback going forward, I look forward to helping you find your voice and share your thoughts effectively with others.

Raul Basilio

Hi everyone! My name is Raul, and I am a PhD student in anthropology here at UGA. As a cultural anthropologist, I am interested in how people experience the environment, particularly in cities. Specifically, I did fieldwork research in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to understand how people go about their lives while facing environmental pollution. As a writing coach, my goal is to guide you in enhancing your writing skills. That means I’m here to support you at every stage of the writing process. I look forward to working with you and being a part of your academic journey!
