Exhibitions:

  • See Kissing Bug specimens and learn about Chagas Disease with Dr. Raissa Brito and Dr. Susan Tanner!
  • Brick by brick, Dr. Danielle Riebe and Dr. Attila Gyucha are building a picture of life in 20th-century Athens, GA through archaeological research of a brick factory at Sandy Creek!
  • Learn about all the projects taking place at the Laboratory of Archaeology and how to get involved!
  • The Institutions and Governance Lab presents the work of Dr. German and her students on land and environmental governance.
  • BEEDL lab research in Madagascar: Several members of Dr. Tucker's BEEDL lab conduct ethnographic research in Madagascar.  On our table, we present subsistence tools and carvings depicting daily life from Masikoro farmers, Mikea hunter-gatherer farmers, and Vezo fishers, including a spear-spade (spear on one end, spade on the other); traditional honey container; traditional game bag; scoop used for digging wild tubers; musical instrument; toy canoe, used to learn sailing; carvings showing wrestlers and a diviner; a staff of sacred wood; and more.
  • The Center for Applied Isotope Studies will be there to show how isotope science can help answer anthropological questions about the past!
  • The Historic Preservation program prepares students to interpret and manage the world's cultural heritage. We offer certificates, a Master's degree, and an Anthropology/MHP Double Dawg.
  • Coffee, Cookies, and Chocolates will be provided and used books will be on sale!

Please contact anthro@uga.edu for questions. Stay tuned for event updates!
